I have an F/N patrol rifle, it's a compromise between a full on sniper rifle and light barrel sporter, I was looking for ideas for irons for it. Currently it has no sighting system, just the factory one piece 20MOA picitanny rail. I was thinking of throwing a good quality 6 power scope on it with QD rings but I'd like to have some irons. I'm not talking back-ups like on an AR or anything, more like the back ups on an M24. Any suggestions?

For what you get the Doctor sight is WAY overpriced. Having owned a Doctor and a Burris Fast Fire, I would advise people to buy the Burris Fast Fire II. Its got everything the Doctor does except the price tag.

Same here. Go with the fastfire. Same quality @ half the cost.

In a different field but the same idea. I have 5 hunting rifles with open sights and QD scope rings. Some of these had open sights installed by a gunsmith, some factory. Its a pain in the ass but I hunt remote sometimes (I live in Ak.)
and I just like them. That being said I'v never had to use them in the field.
I would'nt leave home with out it. I just love my mod. 70's and with the new onership got to get a new one to set next to the L1A1. Funny how the family tree get all twisted around.

Anyway the aftermarket sights are williams standard stuff. Love to see what you end up with on that FN.

I'm looking for a more low tech open sight option. I just don't want the rifle to turn into a club if I take a tumble and wrap the scope around a rock or something.
