I went to my local gun dealer, to have him price a P-6 from Century. He was unfamiliar with the German designation, so I told him it was essentially a P225 or a single stack P228. He asked me if I'd be interested in a Police trade-in P228.

He showed me five very nice guns with 95% or better finishes. He had a sixth gun that he kept for himself. Each came with two 13 round mags. The price was $500. Four of the five had Nite Sights. I picked one that appears nearly new. It only has two nicks in the anodizing on the trigger guard and a few little scratches at the magwell. They were not SIG Certified and have no rail. I cleaned it up when I got home and checked the sights and they still work although they are dim.

As nice as my gun was, there was one without Nite Sights that was still in the gray SIG box and appeared to be new. However, the slide would not unlock from the barrel and retract. I was baffled how a gun in such nice outside condition could be screwed up. Although the dealer is a gunsmith I did not feel like waiting several days or more to see what the issue was with this gun and took the one with nearly as nice a finish.

P228s are great pistols. I've got a Zurich Switzerland Polizei issued P228 on the way from Top Gun Supply. They still have some left.

I was on Top Gun Supply's website last night. The only ones they had left were in fair condition on the finish. Having been to Switzerland twice I saw several Swiss Police carrying SIGs and would like to have one with the markings from one of the Cantons. Since the importer is PW Arms, I checked Dan's website there was none listed there. The 228's at my local dealer were to nice to pass up at $500. Now my delema is do I still get a P6, money is a bit tight.

Nice score on the 228.
I wouldn't bother with the P-6. It's slightly thinner than the 228 with a smaller magazine capacity. That only matters, maybe, in some concealment situations.
Save your bucks and get some more mags for the 228, a decent holster and maybe some other type pistol.

I'm thinking of a 22 revolver, probably a S&W 17/617 4" or the Taurus 94. I already have a S&W M41 and a SIG Mosquito. I'm lucky my Mosquito runs fine with all the ammo I've tried except some extremely weak Russian ammo someone gave me. My brothers Mosquito is very ammo sensitive.

Good score on the Sig p-228. That one is on my short list to buy. Picked up a Sig P-229 in 9mm last year before the election and I love it. Actually my wife snagged it from me as her house gun , therefore the hunt for a 228 is back on. I was lurking on the Sig forum, they won't register my yahoo account last Thurs/Fri when Top Gun Supply announced their 228 coming in. Wow , what a feeding frenzy that was. Their 228 didn't last a day or two. Maybe next time I'll be quicker on the trigger.

I love P228's & have a few.
I was gonna get one of the TGS Swiss police trade ins but felt they were to pricey for condition and dim to dark nite sights.

I called Dan's and he said he might be getting a small supply of them in a month or two but wasn't 100% sure.

You got a better deal with the $500 228 you got IMHO

I test fired it on Sunday. I only had time to run two mags through it. As expected, it worked fine and shot to point of aim. I only used some FMJ reloads and will have to try some hollow points this weekend.

I picked up a beat up P228 a few months ago for $350. I am going to refinish it with duracoat and use it for a truck gun.

Dan's now has the P228's on his web site. Listed as good condition. Swiss Police Trade-Ins. They have holster wear, but are apparently not shot much. They come with three mags.
