Hi, I refinished a wood stock for my M1A. I had a friend pick up the necessary hardware for it at a local show.

The top screw for the buttplate doesn't fit. It came with a square nut. In my spare syntheitc stock, I can see the place where the square nut goes, but I am unsure of what to do to mount the buttplate on the wood stock.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The top screw on a wood stock is a wood-type screw. You can get the screw at e-gunparts.com, amherst-depot.com, or here: http://www.billricca.com/m1_m14.htm
