howdy,

I picked up some inch furniture sets in trade (both Aussie wood and Brit maranyl) and had already picked up a stripped lower a while back. I'm now thinking of putting together an inch lower to swap onto my metric rifle for gits and shiggles.

I've been a metric FAL kind of guy and have plenty of metric parts. I'm trying to figure out which ones will work in an inch lower, to reduce cost. I'm not going for strict adherence to historical accuracy, I just want something that will work on my frankenfal.

Here's a listing of the inch lower parts and whether or not I think a metric part will substitute. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Pistol Grip assembly -- inch only
Pistol grip screw -- inch only
Recoil tube -- inch only
Hammer-Trigger-Sear -- inch only
Hammer pin -- inch only
Trigger pin -- inch only
Trigger pin sleeve -- inch only
Hammer plunger assembly -- inch only
Sear spring -- inch only
Tang screws -- inch only, one for wood, one for plastic

Rear Sight assembly -- metric will fit, including screws
Recoil spring plunger -- metric will fit
Recoil spring -- metric will fit
Recoil tube nut and washer -- metric will fit
Buttpad screw -- metric will fit, but might need different length
Frame lock lever -- metric will fit
Selector -- metric will fit if the notch is ground
Hinge/Pivot Pin -- metric will fit
Frame lock assembly -- metric will fit
Frame lock screw -- metric will fit

DSA's website has Izzy full auto selectors as working in an inch lower. Is this true? If so, where can I get a retaining clip?

Recoil tube -- inch only

Inch tube will work on metric so I'll assume metric will work for inch too.

Hammer plunger assembly -- inch only

Metric will work. They aren't a sealed unit like t he inch is so, be ready to catch stuff on dis assembly.

Don't think it's possible without re-machining the lower.

Selector -- metric will fit if the notch is ground

Yup, I've done it. Sorry for the crappy pic.

Sir, I have recently been apprised that a metric frame locking lever will NOT work in an inch lower w/out turning down the diameter of the cross pin. Regards. Wendell
