Saw several at the show this past weekend, all tagged around $350.    What-the-heck? $350 for a Model 11? Now I have a couple of these fine old scatter guns and one I would not take $350 for, but it is a first year production gun. But dang, the market has just gone NUTS these days!
condition? $350 is still high though. I have found that lately, other than "assault" stuff, asking price and sellling price are WAY different.
Last shooter M11 I sold was for $175, `bout a year ago. It had the solid rib too...

Do you have a model 11 from 1911 or a remington automatic shotgun from 1905? A 1905 model "11" is a rare bird indeed.

I have only seen ragged out Browning designed long recoil humpbacks for $175, even at the cheap gunshops in the far north and far south. I'm coming out to TAYLORSVILLE, NC to buy some cheap guns. What are the good gunshops that deal in used guns around there? I'm looking for a triple lock Smith .44 spl.

Here's a humpback that started at $99

Note I said " last shooter M11" ;)
It was solid w/nice wood, but very little bluing left, shiny bore, and a solid rib. Not a collector specimen, or a shiny one to admire, but a dependable field gun.
I see A5`s at local shops for $750+, but at the shows I see them $550-750 and have never seen one sell. There`s a US marked M11 here locally for $550, but it`s been on the shelf over 6 months now and I don`t think they`ve had 1 offer on it.
FWIW, I bought 2 "shooters" off of this board a couple of years ago for $200/pr, shipped. I dunno if the ad is still in the marketplace archives or not.

Now that's what I see around here too and can't understand how these shops stay in business if thier inventory doesn't move.
I live in South Mills N.C. but work in VA. and the prices on used old guns around here are insane, have been since I started buying guns almost 40 years ago!
As far as the east coast goes, I have to go way north or way south to find good deals, so I just buy on the internet and get good deals from all over the country:)

Yeah!
The bolt handle was broken on one, but the bolt was OK. I had never seen a broken bolt(cracked actually) until I traded for one locally. After I replaced the handle on the one I bought from you, it shot fine! That`s how I learned the bolt handles are guage specific on these thangs....I figgered a 16ga would work, but it won`t. I knew the bolts were different, but didn`t know the handles were.
Some of the parts from your guns may have ended up on the $100 house sweeper!
Did I remember correctly the $200 sale price? It`s listed in my C&R book, but I didn`t go back and check it.

ER,
The price sounds about right...I'm thinking the busted one might have been a little less. I got those guns as part of an estate to sell a few years back. Glad to see them go to a good home and put back into action!

I just picked-up an old Model 10 as part of an estate. Wouldn't be interested in one of those would ya??? It's a little beat, but serviceable.
Canman
Well, not really, but send some pics to my email address.......I have soft spot for wayward Remys looking for a home....

Yeah...I know what you mean. I've got a soft spot for old Remy .22s.
I'll send you some pics once I take them....probably later today.

Yeah.....Like "those" just not nearly as many. I've got like 5 or so.......
That's sure a nice collection of old remy's........
I'd probably own more if we could do FTF tranfers here in Cali, but having to run everything thru an FFL makes things a lot more difficult and sometimes it's also cost prohibitive.

No legal FTF in Kali?
canman
April 19, 2009, 19:15
Nope....no legal FTF in Cali. Even C&R holders have to go through an FFL on handguns. NO insta-check, no way to avoid the waiting period for CCW holders, one handgun purchase allowed per month.....they're trying to make it so non-FFL holders cannot ship firearms at all. It pretty much sucks here!!
