No, the carrying handle is British not Australian. Australians never had the double ferrule.

Can you tell what the wood is? The open pore grain looks like walnut to me, not Australian coachwood.

Also, FWIW, if it has double ferrules and they are split on the edges and bent down over the wood, it is Indian. The Australian/Brit handles I've seen have the ferrules smoothly crimped. Also on the Indian, the wood will look like Mahogany.

smooth crimps - not coachwood - looks like walnut to me -
