Is the 1970 Aussie barrel chrome lined? I believe it is. Need to hear what you have to say. Thanks.

Yes. Started in 1965.

How do you know it is a 1970 vintage? Do you have the two letter date code? Or is that outside the reason of your question?

Is there a chart for Aussie barrel dating? Mine is NA or NH hard to tell, would it be chromed? it appears to be Thanks

I don't see any NA or NH in the list for Aussie Barrels ..

Can you post a pic of the markings on the barrel.... what other markings are stamped onto it?

I have an Eden L1A1 with matching AD64 serial numbers. The barrel is FN (1963) coded, and has the typical Lithgow crossed flag proof. The barrel appears to be chromed, having the tell tale bright ring at the breech as the chamber begins.

Are you saying the "ring" is in the bore, forward of the chamber just past the throat?
If so, that's where the chrome lining of the chamber ends and this sounds like a typical unlined bore. If I understood your description.

This is really noticable on the hammer forged barrels of the early 80's that Lithgow made.

I actually owned an FU dated barrel (64) that too appeared to be lined with the chrome flash on the muzzle. But the "books" say 1965....

Thanks for all the replies. I got the barrel and the lower receiver together. (That's how I deciphered the date. ) They look from the same rifle. The lower is numbered AD70 and something. The barrel has no serial number. Oh, the lower is also marked SPF (Singapore Police Force) and #s.
