My 1911 Dad bought in 1961 keyholes and shoots all over the place. Been going to cast the bore and the chamber for years but have not got around to it.
oops this is suppose to be in K-31 in 7.62

????
Is it a 1911 or a K-31 ?
7.5 Swiss is the ammo for either.
Surplus GP-11 is great ammo, when you find it these days.
Or, is that what you have been shooting and you're getting keyholeing, etc. ?
If so, it sounds like your barrel, at the muzzle anyway, is badly worn.
Probably from improper cleaning.

A K-31 .308 conversion? Oh boy! First get some cerrosafe and do a chamber cast. The 7.5x55 Swiss is longer than .308/7.62x51 and it is NOT a simple turn off a thread and rechamber job like a Mauser!! About the only way to do it, right or otherwise, is to remove the original barrel, cut off the barrel in front of the chamber, ream the chamber straight, silver solder a new barrel in the stub, or cut the barrel off, ream and thread the stub, screw in a new barrel and silver solder it in, then fit the new barrel to the reciever (the etractor cuts and other machining done to the chamber end of the barrel are cost prohibitive to do one off. Who knows how thew Swiss did it), then chamber the barrel to .308/7.62x51.
Check the muzzle too, is it dinged, worn? Barrel bent? Are the sights (scope?) loose? Bedding OK? Screws tight?

I wouldn't shoot that. +5000 PSI over the original spec...no.
I'd just get another one and call that a wallhanger exhibit to the gun-destroying assclowns at Century.

It is a 1911 and I don't fire any high velocity stuff in it. Just nice and slow reloads. 150gr and 168gr at 2500 ft per sec type. May be the problem but Wall Hanger sounds like a good idea.
