have seen a lot of conversions for a fal in other calibers but not 7.62 X 54R... anyone try to make a upper and mag to shoot it? Thought it might be cool, bigger bang for less $ per round.

A member here has done a FAL in 7.92x57 if my memory serves me correctly but I suspect the cartridge base dimensions of the 7.62x54R would prohibit this being a viable option.

That being said, anything can be made to fit with the proper amount of time, money and TLC....and lubrication.

Even if you were able to successfully convert the gun, there would still be the problem of magazines.

Perhaps Bren gun or Lahti LMG mags. PSL mags would be an option, but you'd be restricted to 10 rounds.

Thank you for reminding me of those! I've been looking for x54R mags over 10 rounds, and had forgotten about those.

I've heard bren mags don't work...

It would be nice to see a (relatively) inexpensive 7.62x54r semi automatic rifel on the market. My psl is fun, but i would like to see something better.

I would be a lot cheaper to just buy .308 reloading equipment.

Loaded 54R is not particularly inexpensive anyway these days.
