Nice BSA. I have a matching numbers enfield. But having the original receiver I wish. One of the few things that would make me move to new zealand or one of the other countries that allow ownership of them. :)

Nice guns guys! I appreciate the motivation.

One of these days, the bottom one will get all put together. A mix-master of Brit parts, with a DSA receiver. I picked up a correct wood carry handle after the photo, too.

http://www.geocities.com/wpgibson/DSC_7802w.jpg

The top one is all confused, but now I've got more Aussie parts (and another L1A1 receiver) to mix it up a little less.

I really should start building and quit gathering parts...

First things first, hi from mainland Europe.

Here's my all-matching Enfield I just finished. Came with the pebble grain stock, gave a small fortune to have the wood, SUIT and the bayonet shipped here via eBay.
I know the sling, pouches and bayonet don't really match, but it was already an ordeal getting it to look like this, little things can wait.
Still looking for a carrying handle and a way to make it shoot straight (wobbly SUIT, crunchy trigger, bumped reticle tip and trying to figure out the right .308 load for her).
It's one of my favorite pieces never the less, and honestly, not many guns I had performed well out of the box (or the crate and cosmoline, in this case).

Built from new/like new parts last winter. I replaced the Tritium vial with a new one and it works well at night.

The bottom rifle is one of the US Gov'mt "barrel has to have the bayonet lug cut off kit" I'll make it into a carbine.

Nice guns guys + semi auto.

Here is mine UK Law straightpull spec (Imagine decafe coffee as a gun :/)

1959 Enfield,59 dated brit wood (the only 2 slotted brit wood I have ever got, so had to keep them for myself)

Brit issue Trilux, have now swapped with one of Dennis's Izzy SUIT.

Love the stock with the rack number.. Any idea on the history of it?

I have this Brit stock with a white 4 in a green box if anyone has any idea of where it may have been used..

Man I hadn't checked this thread in a while. All the guys from other countries with guns that have the original receiver, make me jealous. I'd love to have one even if it was a straight pull. Of course over here we could fix that real quick :) Too bad the guy from Italy with the two minty rearsenaled l1a1s didn't post a pic in here.

This thread also reminds me how much a godsend pat jones was to the Commonwealth FAL collectors.

Thanks buddy! I have another set that I am going to send to Blue Monster to do some VERY special work for me, and will later install it on this rifle, and the wood on this rifle will be donned on the upcoming Britt build This one is a 64 dated rifle and the upcoming is a 65 dated. I just liked this wood too much to strip and change the character!

That phrase sounds familiar for some reason...oh wait!! :] That mag looks sweet, we should take some time to test it out at PA.

Great looking wood you got on that L1A1!! I'm glad you finally got it to where you wanted it. I took mine out of the safe yesterday to put the wood furniture back on it... made me grin. Had the marynal polymer on it when I was out in the bush (of GA). Since I didn't buy that SIG I've had to avoid the marketplace because I'm feeling a strong urge to get my SLR some company in the safe :uhoh: Must resist!

Excellent pictures of the SLR, it is great to see how well they are looked after and the fine condition of these examples, a lot of work goes into keeping them like that I know. I like to see them in the correct military spec rather than the sport shooter modified versions. These are all nicely preserved as a bit of classic military history for the future. Thanks for posting your pictures.

My gunsmith cut it down to 16 3/4 in. He said it would not function properly any shorter. The gas port is on 3 and cycles just fine. Although it took some trial and error to find the proper setting.

Until I get around to acquiring a Brit cut receiver for this other kit, this is the best I can do. These were both century builds that have been nurtured back to their former glory.

Restoring my L1A1,

after buying this rifle I decided to renew his life. I understand that may collectors don't agree with what I am doing but the rifle tells me It has spent too much time without receiving any care and attentions. The barrel and all the mechanics are in good conditions but the bluing and the external surfaces need urgently maintenance. I decide to polish and re-bluing it and here are some pics showing my up to now work:
