View Full Version : Need advice on bayonet for M1A
February 23, 2009, 17:19
I have a late model Springfield M1A with a Fulton flash hider/bayonet lug. What USGI bayonet is correct for this rifle? Where can I pick one up, at a reasonable price, since I haven't received an Obama stimulus payment? Thanks

The USGI M6 bayonet was designed for the M14 rifle. As far as where to buy, try Googling it.

You need an M6 bayonet. Sarco lists them like new with scabbard for $39.95. I cant vouch for them on there true condition. Model1 sales lists them as new for $45. If you look at the surplus sales places you'll find them.

There are tons of fake/repro scabbards out there for the M6. M8A1 is the right type but anything with a plastic sheath is not original. Look for smooth fiberglas sheaths with a metal grommet at the tip for the leg tie. A large hole there is usually plastic and repro.
Also look for rebuilt bayos. They usually have a peened tang

second from the left , looks like the M7 for the M16 rifle but it has the lug release of the M5 for the M1garand
