Hi all, Can you open up the receiver to take standered mags? It was made in Romania and inported by CIA. The reciever dose not have dimplies like normal AK receiver. It looks like it has a normal front trunnion. Any help would be great.

Thanks Dave

If you are talking about changing from the single feed mags to the military double feed mags, yes yu can enlarge the mag well to allow them to fit. However, that isn't your only problem. You will also have to include a bullet guide the the rear of the breech. This will allow the cartridges to feed from the sides instead of from the middle on the single feed mags. The bullet guide is usually riveted in place on the trunion.

This link shows you how to WECSOG a bullet guide that will allow your rifle to work with mil mags. However, I recomend buying the guide from someone like K-VAR to make sure you got the right one and then installing it yourself.

tac, thanks for the info. It looks like it has a bullet guide allready. It sure looks like a standard Romi gun with a norrow mag well in the receiver.

one thing that was not stated and needs to be is the 922r parts need to be added if the mag well can take a 10+ mag.

That is correct and as I remember the mag well is the only thing needed to make it use the mags.

Now others like the SA2000 take a little more work but can be done.
