The Argy barrels with "open ears" use Izzy front sight parts, which are completely different from metric front sight parts.

"open ears" meaning that the protective "wings" on each side of the sight have a hole and arent completely solid.

Check gunthings or sarco for Izzy parts.

Here's gunthings: http://gunthings.com/

This will work:http://estore.websitepros.com/832529/Detail.bok?no=451

Call either one, they'll likely have what you need.

So, if I understand correctly, you need the front sight post spring? Sarco lists it but, for the Izzy. Samething IIRC and, should work.

Scroll down to "front end parts"

What is that tab in the middle of the post area between front and back of the ear? i only have a post and a spring, not a washer thingy or that tab on the side of the post.

i rigged up my own spring. i took a coil spring from an old ak rate reducer thing and cut it down to a few coils long - then i threaded the sight (metric G2, tall type) into the coil spring then just screwed it in to the front sight base.

works good so far - ugly though.

so is this Izzy/ Argentine front sight structure taller or something? I was told i needed a tall rear sight, the izzy type, to go with the front Argentine bbl. the first #2 height front post i had was to short, had to get a #5.. only could get that in Belgian type.

Post is nicely centered now between top and bottom of ears, before with the low rear sight it was burried nearly to the bottom of the sight base.

That would be the fixing plate. It has two small tabs that will fit the two holes you described previously and, up tabs rub the sight wheel to "fix" the sight in place. If you don't have one then, that's why it's loose and wobbly.
