I recently picked up a JLD PTR 91 ser. #A08xxx. I have heard of issues with tight chambers and soft trunions on the JLD rifles; however I emailed PTR and was advised that my rifle was made after the problem was corected.

Anyway, I have measured bolt gap (bolt slammed shut on empty chamber, hammer down) at .010. I have been led to believe that spec. was .012-.020. Should I install +2 or possibly +4 rollers. Rifle appears to have been fired very little, if at all. I have not fired the rifle myself.

Unless the recoil really bothers you, I wouldn't fret about a 0.010" bolt-gap.

Meantime you should trade it for a FAL.

Acceptable bolt-gap spec for HK or CETME in .308 is 0.004" to 0.020"

Thanks WEG, I got to have at least one of these. I had a real one back in the day and traded it.

I know the affliction.

I'm slowly moving toward recovery.

Shoot me a PM with your preferred email addy, and I'll email you some manuals for that critter.
