View Full Version : How do you get the bolt to stay open on an L1A1?

I read, years back, someone had a "how-to" on fixing up the L1A1 to hold open the bolt on an empty mag without having to push the release lever up by hand. But I cant find it. Does anyone know ? Thanks.

For an automatic BHO there is a horizontal pin that engages the mag's follower when it comes up after the last round is fired. The inch has either no pin, or a shortened one.

Just replace the missing (or short) pin with a longer one that'll catch the mag follower.
Or replace the whole BHO with a metric one.:whiskey:

IIRC you just add a pin to the BHO.

I did it years ago - it seems like you can swap out to a metric BHO which was slightly larger in diameter than an inch pattern, but already had the pin, or you could drill the inch BHO and install the pin.

use a roll pin. Cut to length.

I think it uses a 3/32 roll pin.Install and then cut to length.
