I finished refinishing and reassembling my M-1 barreled receiver that I got from
the CMP. The parts kit came with a brand new bolt. I am wondering what the
odds are that it headspaces correctly? The bore is excellent and there is just
a little pitting under the receiver where it contacts the wood. I reparked and refinished the gun and it looks great. I need to get over to my folks to borrow
my dad's headspace gauges but won't be able to get over there until next weekend. This gun should be a great shooter.

I'd say 95%

Those things were made in the USA when that really meant something!

You have .008 range to play with between go and field and pretty sure they used a no-go as as go, so that makes your field really a no go, and gives you .004 more.

They really did do a good job holding tolerance on the bolts and barrel chambers.

I'll second what Moses says.

The more I mess with Garands, the more impressed I am with QC and holding tolerances. Makes me wonder what the reject rate was during production, back when it was all done by guys turning cranks.

But perhaps folks paid attention better in those days...
