The Ballester is often forgotten about when looking for a 1911 style gun. I bought a Ballester Rigaud about 10 years ago for $280 at a local gun shop. I polished the short feed ramp and bought 3 Chip McCormick mags. I have fired countless rounds through this gun with never a problem. FMJ, RNL or even semi wadcutters, run right through it. Accuracy is good too. I know that there are some Ballesters that are junk and maybe I just got lucky, but mine has given me faithful service. Maybe somebody wanting a 1911 would want to consider a Ballester instead if money is a problem.:)

I also purchased a Ballester about twelve years ago for $200. I have an assortment of used Mil.,colt and whatever used mags from gun shows. I have never had a misfire or failure to feed with it with any of them. It is accurate and rides with me in my truck everwhere I go. It's not pretty, but I know it will get the job done if I need it.

yup ....my Ballister-Molina rides in the truck with me. Accurate....never fails to perform. It is not the prettyest.....but I was not looking for a pretty piece...
Handles ball ammo and hollow points with out a hicup. Fact is ....I bought 2  gave one of them to my son.

I've got quite a collection of molinas and one reguad, which I have two matching mags for.
The molinas are great shooters if they haven't been mistreated.
I also have several sistemas, one is decent shooter the other is well lets say could dang near shoot around corners,
we'll see if it gets a new barrel or some work to make it a little more, lets say accurate.

I have a Rigaud and a couple Sistemas. All of them shoot well with hardball, but are a little choosy with hollow points. Wouldn't think of parting with any of them.

Have two Molinas myself. Bought early 2008 at a local auction. Paid $225 for the well used but not abused one and $275 for a really, really nice rack queen. Both shoot the same (great) and feed 100% from all the quality 1911 mags I have tried with my 230 grain lead reloads.

I intend to leave the nicer gun in as-issued condition and fit the worn gun with a set of hi-viz rugged fixed sights for a using, truck, trail, tractor, etc. gun.

I consider these a real bargin in a solid .45 caliber handgun. And yes, I have Colts too, but I would just as soon shoot the Ballesters!

I regret having bought my Ballester Molina. I regret that I bought it and not half a dozen more when they were readily available. Same with the Sistemas.
My Ballerina Molester is built like a tank and has been perfectly reliable. I have never shot it for groups, but I never fail to hit the kill zone of the man sized and shaped steel target that I built.
