Has anybody ordered from "Fred's M14 Stocks"? He seems to have quite the selection, but when I tried to order I got error below.... Or could anybody point me to a different supplier? Or maybe I should try old school and just call Fred! lol

I bought all of these from "Fred " between 2001 - 2006. These were bought IN PERSON, not from the website, YMMV.

Now, before you get all drippy, I did have a little involvement in how they turned out. ;)

Keep in mind that the order I placed in October 2007 did not arrive until June of 2008. Just for some run of the mill stocks and handguards, nothing fancy.
When he says on his website that you might have to wait a while, he is not kidding.
That said, I was happy with what I received.

The flame is in the wood grain, I just have a talent for coaxing it out. :D

You are reeeel good with that belt sander :p
Nice wood and finish work. Wish Fred would take better lit photos of BOTH side of the stocks he sells. It is really hard to tell what you are looking at. I am ready to buy one but hate not being able to put my hands on them!

Yeah, Fred is SLLLOOOOWWWWW. I waited 2 months before I started calling. If you can ever get him on the phone, it seems to hasten your order....
I was well satisfied with what I got though.

I've bought stocks from Fred over the last 8 or 10 years (I think) and have never gotten what I ordered in what you would call a reasonable time. He has always sent a few "extra goodies" and I guess it's hard to write with paws.

Fred is slow but you end getting what you paid for and it is true that you get some extra goodies in the box for waiting...at least i did.

I hadn't ordered a stock from FRED in about 10 years---placed an order on
19 Jan for one of his "dinged up" walnuts for about $70---I got it today
and what a GREAT stock!! It has great grain and color but I will need to do
the finish work to make it stand out but it's nice to have a solid foundation
to start on, the GI marks are real clear. I'm glad he is still in business. Pete

Have you received your stock yet.
My card was charged on the 6th, but no stock yet. I thought they didn't charge until it was about to ship. Reason this always makes me worry is that I only have so long to contest credit card payment.
I have no problem waiting 12 months when I haven't been charged, but get impatient after 3 weeks when I've already paid.

I suppose just because it's not a Freds stock, it's no reason not to post a pic or two of my M1A with a Boyd's stock and Fred's hardware!

You know it Cliff! I think I paid $65 a piece for all of those. Fred has since raised his price on the "tigers".

Called all week, and finally reached someone Friday, who said he would look into my stock.
If I don't hear anything by this coming Weds, I'm going to go ahead and dispute the charge on my Credit Card.
Once again, I have no problem waiting over a year for an item, but once it's charged it should arrive within a month. Just ranting. :fal:

Thanks for reminding me that USarmory also has stocks.
I'll get around to buying one eventually. I'll live with the synthetic one for now.
Updated to say, I've started the CC dispute process today. First charge I've ever had to dispute in my life.
Pretty sad that a fellow firearms person has a business that seriously lacks in communication and seems to have no problem charging people then blowing them off.

I was willing to wait over a year, but not if they charge my card upfront, especially considering their spotty reviews and people never receiving items. Google and you shall find plenty of bad reviews, also three complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Fred's didn't even bother to respond to the three Better Business Bureau complaints, which told me to dispute my charge while I still had time.
Luckily, my Credit Card company worked with me, and credited me back with the money. The money is now going to CMP. Just added another pending order for 30-06, makes that 4 open orders with CMP. They won't charge until ammo's ready to ship.
Hope you have better luck than I did, and they don't charge your card in advance, and actually have communication other than it only being one-sided.
At least I'm not out money, like some others.

I received my 2 select plus walnut stocks after a 8 week 2 day wait. My CC was charged 10 days prior to receipt. Both stocks would go VG with only a few dings and no cracks or repairs. I stripped one down with Jasco paint remover and finished it with Tru-Oil gun stock finish kit. I am satisfied with the results and was only out $20 for supplies and $70 plus $14 shipping for the stocks.
