The M79 has arrived. 100% GI. Took only a year or so to assemble the parts. Pics follow.

Original stripped receivers are going in the $3800 range today. Glad we got in early.

Wild Bill Fleming was a great source for parts if you want to build one of these. Do not get in a hurry.

Where do you get 40mm?

Practice rounds are $5. Buck shot rounds are about $40, I think. HE is $325 per round +$200 tax and you have to turn the fired cartridge into ATF.

There are, of course, other sources of ammo, legal, which are free but I will not go into that here.

I just realized you wanted a place to buy 40 mm. Try GunBroker.

Was that originally made in Cleveland like the TRW M-14's?

Now that's nice - didn't realize you could get chaulk for $5 per - that almost makes it affordable - Wonder if you could reload a Dragon's Breath shell for a 40mm - that could be awesome considering what a 12ga in SBR does.

Nice launcher Bill!

I was going to point you to Grog's 40mm board, but I just saw David's pics up there. (well, I THINK it's him and the same launcher)

There's just something about a 79 that is COOL!

He is like a kid in a candy store. This has been a really long project for him. I got a number of parts from Wild Bill Fleming at the Tulsa gun show and he found a kit for sale that he persuaded the seller to let him have some of the really hard to find parts from. We were going to reproduce the parts but about six months ago a lot of them showed up surplus.

Very very cool piece. Why does one have to turn in fired casings to the ATF?

When HE grenades are sold, ATF wants to know when they are expended.

Check with Evilblonde over on Grog's board, I just picked up a couple of her 40mm-12 ga and 20 ga adapters. VERY well made and the price isn't too bad. For fun, you should pick up either a 10 or 18 shot .22LR adapter. The 10s are rifled but the 18 really makes it ROAR and is pretty cool to tear stuff up on the range with. They're not cheap, but since you have an M60 and TRW 79, you understand the price of fun!

Probably not much. But, when you have to destroy HE................. a lot.

And, if you are having fun with friends, shooting flour is not bad.:)

Shooting stuff at each other with a freakin registered DD is just plain stupid. I thought you were smarter than that, Bill. What's next, shooting your M60 overhead of some friends so they can hear the cool whizz???

Those are small flour loads used by the Vietnam Re-enactors. Those guys were doing it to experiment in 2005. I am told it is a .38 blank propelling a sandwich baggie with flour. I have never seen it done, myself.

They make 'handgrenades' out of flour and firecrackers put into halfpint milk cartons I am also told.

I bought up about 13,000 .308 blanks a year or so ago for the M60 to devour. That is dangerous enough for me.

Damn DABTL I don't agree with your politics, but you sure know how to have fun.
