View Full Version : WTK: Value of a S&W Safety Hammerless, 5th model

I good friend of mine just recently inherited a Smith and Wesson Safety Hammerless, 5th model in .38 S&W. Its blued with bakelite grips and in VG+ condition, with 85% or better bluing still evident. Theres a decent pic below of the pistol.

Whats something like this really worth? A cursory look at Gunbroker shows these with starting bids all over the place. She is looking to sell it and use the proceeds to buy a more modern revolver in a more common caliber (like .357 mag/.38 spec) for personal/home defense or see how much trade-in she should insist on from a dealer.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I have done well with these types of pistols. As far as pocket pistols go, they are heads and tails above I-J's and H&R's in quality. This one should bring about $200 provided that the grips are not cracked or chipped, the bore is not a sewerpipe and it functions correctly.
