Any of you reprobates tried to make one yerself ? I did a search and found where the guy made them to sell outta plastic. While I might end up giving him a call (forgot who he is just now, but got the threads bookmarked somewheres) I want to try to weld one up outta mild steel. I can't see it being but SO complicated. Slow has a ready rolled one I can go by.
Anyone ?

Never underestimate the destructive power of a determined idiot.
FAL upper
AR mag
End result would hopefully be a man's rifle that shoots homoammo.

Apparently you have now completed Post Storm Clean-up and have found yourself with enough FREE time to turn POOFTER..
Next thing ya know you'll be posting up where to Find one of the HOMO Aug-Mantaters.. :shades:

Yep, Steyr didn't make the AUG for Poofters, but it does appear that the
AUG is the Rifle that Poofters own.( I stole that from someone here).
Owlman, I did notice sumpin interestin' the 20 rd AR mag fits nicely inside
a 20 rd FAL. Slow was gonna help me build one when I got the bug up my
butt that I needed a 233 FAL. Since then I got 2 SAR 4800's in 223. Get Slow to
let you play with his 223 FAL and see how it works.

That is what is wrong already, 2ba. He had that thing out to the range a while back. I had some .223 that wouldn't feed in my A2, so he hands me that .223 para FAL and says, "See if this will eat that shit. If it will, sight it in for me."
Fitty rounds later I had to have one.
(not a para though. I do not like them)

Seriously, the idea of shooting an FAL with ammo that costs half that of 308 is very tempting. At several times during the past few years I've considered hitting up Blood of Tyrants for a bbl, DSA for the bolt, and Meeper for the magwell conversion. I haven't been able to justify the cost, but then again I haven't pulled the trigger on a .223 FAL.
Let us know how it goes, J.

Well gosh, smaller shouldn't be a problem! :D
And anyway, knowing a thing *can* be done is half the battle.

In my neck of the woods 5.56 isn't much cheaper than 7.62, I obtained some blemished surplus 7.62 for $0.30/round. Only real cost savings around here would be to convert it to a commie caliber like 5.54x39 or 7.62x39.

I have 2 of the SAR 4800's in 223/5.56 and they are a hoot to shoot:rofl:
We had to do some clean up on the gas system on one of em, it must have
been shot with some real dirty ammo. They have no recoil. I have a pair of
120 rd Norinco AR drums for them also.

Our little project is proceeding apace. Making the jig now to press the mag release swell. The prototype pattern is made and the first blank is cut out. Front (FAL metric) mag catch dimple is formed (WECSOG, aka "presidential solution" method employed).
Couple press jigs and some down home welding might just see the first one in use, give a month or so.
Shilen barrel should show up tomorrow. (.224 1:9 contour five)

You got any chunks of aluminum laying around, larger than 2" x 2" x 2" ?
If so, call Slow.
Gracias.

I found this a while back while researching the SAR 4800 223.
These are based on an AR rotating bolt.

I made a mag block a bit ago, to single feed, and also because I was bored... It's pretty easy, it'd only be a bit more work to make it into an AR mag adapter...
