I am baffled--and have never had a proper explanation as to WHY in the world supressors are regulated? A non-moving part that has one purpose(or so it seems to me) to protect the hearing of the shooter and those around--any takers on an explanation? I understand that in many european countries they are NOT regulated and are quite inexpensive--like I said, I am baffled!

There were worried about assassinations and widespread problems with poaching.
Don't forget, they wanted to ban ALL handguns in NFA-34.

eeewwww! Schlomo...;) really not bad

Someone, somewhere was shot and killed with a suppressed weapon. A [gutless wonder of a] relative of the deceased had a pile of dough, some juice and the ear of a legislator.
end of story

in the GCA of 1934 silencers were added in to the regulated items for the sole purpose of stopping poachers. thats it. I have read the 1934 GCA and thats the only reason suppressors are there.

Here.
Because they're EVILE!

In the UK.
Because folks like English Mike take too many rabbits with 'em.:shades:

We were required to use "sound moderators" because we might be violating noise abatment acts.

Ya pays yer money & yer takes yer choice!

She seems very sincere in wanting to ban things that go up. Prolly wants to ban things that hang down too.

Lord help us.

In that case, then her bra should be registered.

Things get banned because politicians can get away with it. There's no rational reason to it.

You'll soon have to decide what you - personally - want to do about the banning of your EBRs.

Good luck with that.

We put mufflers on our cars and trucks and lawn equipment but have to register and jump through hoops to get them for our guns. Go figure:confused:

Dude, it's National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934...

I think that you are confusing it with the Gun Control Act (GCA) of 1968

The UK is considering removing the current requirement that suppressors must be registered on one's Firearms Certificate.
First piece of good news in a while.

This is good. Poaching. State crime regulated at the federal level. We deserve it.

These are getting really good reviews over here:

http://www.wildcatrifles.co.uk/sound_moderator_fullbore.htm

They can be fully disassembled & caliber changes only need the front end & correct barrel bush.

Spendy though - $375 at current exchange rates.
