I have a Rem 11/87 Police SG, about 7 years old, with less than 500 rounds of Federal buck through it. The circular piece that the gas ports go through and that fits over the magazine tube has detached from the barrel. It is a clean break between the two.
I have conflicting opinions on if this can be reattached to the barrel. I have a lot of $$$ into the barrel (back bore, choke, front site). Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mark

Remington will probably replace the barrel for you.
Whether you want them to or not.
You might have better luck with a gunsmith.
But, if you go that route, you really need to find somebody that does enough shotgun work that they can tell you whether your barrel can be safely repaired. Or not.

I'll get a pic up tomorrow. I talked with Hans Vang (Vang Comp) today about it. (Great guy) He said that in 15 years, this is only the second failure like this that he has seen.
After 6 calls to Remington, I finally talked to the right guy. He is shipping me a new barrel today. He also said, ship the broken one back, they would re-braise it and send it back to me as a back-up. I guess I lucked out.
Thanks for you comments.
