I need a price check on an preban M14. The rifle is all TRW parts built on a pre ban Armscorp receiver. I am in NY so preban still means something here. Rifle is in excellent condition.
Thanks, Ken

First off I would need to know who built it? Is it factory, M14 'smith or a home built rattle trap?
The new and pre-ban's don't bring much of a difference around here. I wouldn't pay more than $1200 for it. (Armscorps don't have the re-sell value of SAI M1As and I have bought no less than 2 NIB pre-ban all TRW M1As off auction arms before for $1200 each)

The person I bought it from said the builder was a retired military armorer. That's all I know. I have acquired an LRB built rifle and have an all Winchester rifle built by Tony at Orion-7. $1,200 is a lot less then I paid. There are no problems with the rifle, just having 3 M14's is 1 too many. I'll post it for sale locally, being preban should increase it's value here. The rifle also has a vietnam era sling and a deactivated selector button (hawks kit). The rifle is solid, not a rattle trap.
Thanks, Ken

The economy has brought prices down some, a year ago I would have valued it closer to $1500.00 -$1800.00 tops

Just the parts kit would bring near $1500 not including the receiver. Unless the builder ground on the bolt lugs or the Receiver Ring it should be worth $1500.
Now that doesn't mean you don't try for th e best deal you can get.

Thanks for the feedback.

I posted it in the marketplace for $1,600 for a local sale on LI, NY. I would take a nice FAL(STG58) as partial trade.

I would like to avoid shipping and ffl paperwork.
