Im mounting a 3-9x40 scope with 1 inch tube on my M-1A. I plan to use the ARMS mount, and am wondering what height rings I will need, low or med. Anyone know?

I have a 3.5X10X50 on my M1A with a Smith Ent. mount it works fine for me with Burris low 1" XTR rings.

I would bet medium height rings are going to be too low. The ARMS mounts ( split rail or solid ) set up low. ( the lowest possible) so you need some height to get over the rear aperture

If you want to clear the rear sight you will have to know the mount height. ring height, bell diameter minus the tube diameter, height of sight over mounting rail height, blah blah blah. I can't figure that crap out.

Here is an ARMS mount with Warne "high" 30 mm rings. The rear of the scope clears the sight by 1/4 of an inch. The only way to go lower is to remover the rear sight. That might be right for someone but not me.

If you buy tall ARMS rings and they are too tall I will be glad to take them off your hands.
