Maybe this has been covered before. I did a search and can't seem to find it. I also checked my reg books and can't seem to find an answer. So I figured I would check to see if any of you folks new the answer.

If I located a C&R pistol out of state while on vacation. Could I purchase it and transport it back home with my C&R License. Or would I need to ship it to myself or thru a dealer in that state? I also have the same questions about a C&R rifle.

It's my understanding that as long as you have a signed copy of your C&L to give the dealer you can pay for it and take it home with you right then and there.

There could be some sort of state law in one of our more restrictive states to the contrary but, as of right now, I don't know of any.

It depends on whether it is legal for you to possess the firearm at the point of purchase. For instance, if you are in NY state and reside in any other state, it is not legal for you to possess a handgun for any reason (law enforcement excepted). In that case, you would have to make your purchase and have the handgun shipped to the address on your FFL. I once had a C&R and traveled for work so I bought stuff all over the country. I always had it shipped since it made the most sense for me. Long guns are a little easier though, except for the state of Massivetwoshits where it is not legal unless you have a FID or a non resident hunting license. I think there are some other states like that as well.
There are probably enough ignorant FFL dealers who would sell you one and allow you to take it with you contrary to the law but the risk would be yours.
