Since Photopoint seems offline, does anyone know of a similar site for photos?

Well, I think Apple and iDisk is the best deal. You sign up online and you get a free email account and free 20 mb of online storage. You can use if for storage or even put a web site up on it. You can also sign up as many times as you want. The wife has two accounts and I have two accounts. That's four email accounts and 80 megabytes of easy to access storage and none of it costs a cent. This has been going on for over a year now so it isn't going to change or anything.

Oh, there is one catch (evil smile). You have to be using the superior computer system to be able to setup the account. Mac OS 9 or X. You can access your account from a PC once it is active but you have to use a Mac to get it all registered in the first place.

Recievers and barreled recievers --CMP start at $125 also Sarco and Orion7, Fulton Armory are good sources I just put a new boyds stock on that one and took it up the range today with the AR and FAL as well to quell the jones now that hunting season has wrapped up took some nice video of the FAL as well as the Garand. Even with the el-cheapo Tiawan MG 30-06 it was holding sub 1 inch groups once I got the sights back on and got my rest right --Too much coffe and some sinus medication this morning had me shakin too much for any offhand work --Gotta figure out how to upload the video clips bought a Sony digtal8 video camera a few weeks ago so It has the USB and serial outputs just need to figure out how to let you guys link to it. Any hints would be appreciated.

We've started using
www.webphotos.com (http://www.webphotos.com) www.webshots.com (http://www.webshots.com) www.imagestation.com (http://www.imagestation.com)

Free, easy, and no promo/tagline attached to every photo.

after the photopoint experience, I suggest:

get your own domain name.
get some cheap (paid) webhosting.

1) you get a permanent internet 'address'.
2) you get a website with no advertising.
3) you get customized email (your domain) with no advertising. no more reinforcing Hotmail or Yahoo or ATT's corporate name.
4) you can show your pics in forum threads with no linking problems, and no advertising put on them.

if desired, you can split the costs and share the benefits with some friends.

I checked, and these domains are available:

falshooter.com
falguy.com
falman.com
falhome.com
falpoint.com

$13.50 per year at www.000domains.com (http://www.000domains.com) gets you the domain name.

Most folks that have good ISPs (not WebTV or the like) can just use the free webserver-space they are already getting with their internet connection. Just check your contracts or call the ISP and they will let you know how much room you have. All you have to do is use a freeware FTP program (I suggest WS_FTP from IPSWITCH) and upload the files to your own storage folder. It works even if you don't have a "webpage" of your own although sometimes you have to set up the personal folder using webpage building tools. Mine was a simple online initial folder setup at my ISPs own technical support page. You can store any files you want in the "FTP" folder (like complete copies of all the good FALFiles threads!))and all the files that you want to access publicly in the "Public_html" folder.
Very simple to do. :) Good luck and I hope this info helps someone.

Here is a link to a guide of online photo albums. It is updated regularly and lists the features of each site quite accurately... http://www.andromeda.com/people/ddyer/photo/albums.html

www.epson.com (http://www.epson.com) hosts a photo storage area, set up by photopoint. Forum is identical, but won't host for third party sites like this(I think) or ebay, but you can just link it. Best of all is FREE or was last time I looked.

Sumo: Paste the URL you have for your image in a browser window and see if an image, and only the image, comes up. If it doesn't show, or if it is part of a page with anything else (other than just the graphic), then the [img] tags won't work. Your two links you posted do not show images at all when pasted into a browser window (They don't show anything actually).

Yeah, it helps if you type in the whole thing.

Sorry that they sre SKS's and not FAL's, but these two were handy.

Thanks
