What you mean it doesn't work?

It more or less does in fact work.. though the counter has a habit of resetting itself every few weeks.

No, no, I beseech you, don't cast out the poor little counter on Christmas Day. The counter is a little lame, but so was Tiny Tim, and you know how good hearted he was. Would you throw Tiny Tim out into the snow to starve on Christmas? You vicious beast.

I find it interesting that the most users were only 159 out of what, 5030! What's up with that!!

The Counter only shows how many users were logged in and online at the same time or within the past 15 minutes. I can of course increase this time frame to 30 minutes or more.. but why? This tells you who is online basically at the same time you are.

Ok, I actually like knowing about how many are on the site a any given point. I just wish that the "highest number" could actually be correct :)
