private message notification not working?

My personal options are set to notify me via email when somebody sends me a "private message." However, this notification system does not appear to be working. I just "found" a private message that was sent over a week ago. I was never "notified."

No biggie.

My email address is not hidden. I'd just as soon have anybody who wants to reach me send messages directly via email.

For the most part it does work, however sometimes, due to system glitches I guess, the notices aren't sent.

I'll try sending you a PM, let me know if you get the notice.

Nope.

No email notification.

I was able to see the message after logging into my "profile."

No biggie. I'm not into keeping up with site-specific email messages. I can always be reached via my regular email address.

Strange, very strange.

I personally think the email notices are annoying.. of course I'm biased in that I get all the replies from people who don't read the DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE part of the email and do so anyways.. I'm still getting upwards of 50 replies to the notices per day :(
