View Full Version : Tip to speed up page loading time

Click one of the last 4 links in the new header (Sponsors, Advertising, Membership or Contact Us) and then after that page loads, come right back to the forums.

You should see a faster load time on the pages.

O.K. Jen, I will admit that I ain't no rocket surgeon, much less a komputer programmer but on my banner that I am reading it only has the FN logo link, Home, Forums, Membership, and Contact Us. Nothing about Sponsors or advertising???

19: At the very tip top of the page is a blue background with a FN Logo on it, The FAL Files Message Forums, Sponsor Banner, and then just below that is a nice maroonish red section with Home, Forums, Sponsors, Advertising, Membership and Contactus Image links.

Why does this help with the speed? The board is set to no-cache. This means it doesn't store much of anything on your computer's temp internet files directory, including the header images which are reloaded over and over again. By going to one of the other pages (that cache the data) your browser will already have the images to display and won't need to re-download them for every page in the forums you visit.

JEN, seriously I am looking at the tip-top of the page and see the nice FN logo, then under that in dark red banner written in white it reads "HOME" "FORUMS" "MEMBERSHIP" and "CONTACT US"
NOTHING STATING SPONSORS OR ADVERTISING???
Help is this some plot by Bill Gates to prevent me from taking full advantage of the FALFILES???

Jen that looks really pretty on your pix that you posted but I ain't seeing that on my moniter. I am running Win 98 ver. 1.whatever came with my 1998 computer. and for a browser it is Microshaft ie. ver. 5.50.4134.0600

19: Can you post or email me a screenshot of your window?

To get a screen shot just make sure your browser scroll bar is all the way at the top of the window where the header is, then hold down ALT and press the Print Screen button at the same time.

Then, go into MS Paint and press Control and V at the same time. This will paste the screenshot into an image. Save this then email it to me.
