At 23,000, the UK-made Accuracy International L96 is also the most expensive individual weapon ever issued."We're definitely seeing a renaissance in sniping," said the colonel in charge of sharpshooter training at the Britain's Land Warfare Centre in Wiltshire.

Nice addition,,,,,,I see among the 7.62 there are magnum rounds listed, any idea which round they opted for?

Seriously, you don't expect British journos to get anything right, do you?

AFAIK, the British Army fields the .338 Lapua version (L115A1) and the 7.62 NATO version (L96A1).

(OK, so the RAF Regiment is part of the Air Force but close enough.)

I'd guess that the 23,000 is an all-up figure for training the sniper plus supplying his equipment - it's certainly not just for the base rifle anyway!

I thought AI went belly up after the Brits cancelled their contract when their fifties started to self destruct. They are cool looking but excessively heavy.
It reminds me of the Sage stock system for the M14. The M40A3 is what we
shoot at the moment and they are no where near that expensive and will
make a bad guy DRT.

i just refuse to spend money on something produced in a totalitarian state like britain.

on a less opinionated basis, i dont see how they could cost that much. whoever bought that company when it went belly up is making a fortune!

but i am considering the CDI bottom metal for the FN which takes AI mags...just say noooooo....

I was looking at that too, but couldn't find any mags:( I have the Mags in my
SPR so I opted to keep'em the same.

They are issued here (known as the SR98) along with the .50 cal version. I do believe the price quoted is WRONG as I can but a 338LM version for $11K Aussie when ever I want, the price may however include spares and an ongoing maintenance/training/upgrade program but who knows.

AI mags are around. Stacey Blankenship usually has them for sale.

Also, the "Accurate Mag" magazines seem to get decent reviews.
