Dear Jen,

OK, I think this would go here. How about an "OT" site, sort of like the Dumping Brass, but for all the OT stuff that comes up on the FALFILES? No flames, no arguements, just stuff that comes up, like CETME questions (which I didn't ask but have been a help to me), Mauser questions (ditto), etc. "Show Me Your Dogs" and the "I have an old German guy working with me" that quickly became a flame would go in the OT section. Just an idea.

awd: if you search this forum you will find that this issue has been discussed at length previously and that the date in the system is correct but a bug is causing it to be displayed incorrectly.

I'm wondering what happened to the post "Are things in Kalifornia really this bad?". I got a notice that FIREJUNKIE had responded Sat, July 5, 2003 6:26 AM on my e-mail. But when I click to read that thread, it won't let me see it. In fact the thread has disappeared. What happened?:confused:

I changed my Options the other day to auto notify me as to any posts on my threads. I went in and changed it BACK to NOT notify me automatically (numerous times) a few day slater (and again today), but, I am STILL getting massive auto emails notifying me of comments to threads.

In short, the change back is not being applied.


Any help?

The individual threads that you posted to while you had that turned on still have the email notification set to ON. You'll have to go thru each thread you're still getting notifications from and edit your post to remove the notify me of new posts bit for that thread.

The black dot means that is a thread that YOU are participating in.

I have gone to marketplace then services and 11 threads are showing but when I click into services only two threads come up. If I log off my user name I can view all 11 threads but I can't reply or post. What to do?

At the bottom of the threads listing there's a drop box that says "from [last 2 days]" Change the date and you'll get more or less threads depending on the timespan you want to display.

I previosly had a problem with a sellers rating from a member that I had not even sold anything to. The bad rating went away, but with all the GP VS SD stuff going on, now that it's being resolved is there a formal way to challenge a bad sellers rating or are we just screwed?

For most of the last week I have tried to log on and been denied with a wrongpass word flag, when I try to get a new password nothing happens. I have tried various methods of contacting the FALFILES, this is a last resort.. My FALFILES name was martin35. Was I banned for some reason?

Did you look carefully at the pop-up. MOST have a readable sign-in and PW embedded; this prevents automated login hacks. We recently had a back-end hack attempt trying to access user PW. Foiled, but Jen keeps this applet running for a reason.

Hi Jen. I am trying to figure out hos to reduce the size of a digital picture of myself to use in an Avitar on the FALfiles site. How do I do that? The size of the Avitar is very limited, and I don't have any pics that small. Please let me know how you do that?

Im not getting email notifications of posts on threads I have subscribed to. THo I log in every day, the log shows that I have not been on the board since Oct 13. 2006. I certainly have logged in and posted since that date. Also the board lags and drags in loading, never did before. Whats up?? thanks STGThndr

When I get private mssgs and read them, the new private message counter at the login page shows that I still have them even though I've read them. The only way to reset it seems to be by logging out and then logging back in.

The problem is, when I log out and then back in, it resets ALL threads and forums to "all read status", like I've read them all. I've looked for an option to turn "all read" after log out to "off", but cannot find any.

Any suggestions?

Don't use the "back" button to return to the main page; use the "The FAL Files Forums" button. This works for me.

There's a section near the bottom called "Custom User Text" right underneath your birthdate in the User CP - you mean that? I've set mine to say "Casual hero" - is that what you're asking about?

No, that box is not there. FalFiles admin enables that when you become a contributor I think. They may have forgot to in my case but I can't seem to get it changed by asking with PM's so maybe these posts will ba acted on, I hope.

When it says "Contributor" right underneath "Bilge Rat", you will be able to post photographs. Your contribution just hasn't been posted yet.

I'm under the impression that the HK Files are under the same administration as the FAL files. If so, is anyone monitoring new member registrations over there? I registered several weeks ago, and never got any confirmation back. Now, I have a question about mounting a Stanag mount on my PTR 91 I'd like to post there, but I can't log in because my registration was never processed, apparently. Can anyone here help with that?

I just purchased a Belgian FAL that I have concerns with. Some people have replied on here that they need to see pics to be able to help me decide if I should send it back or not. Please let me know if I can be approved to attach pics since I only have 3 days to return the rifle to the seller on Guns America. I've been on the Sig and AR15 forums with the same name for close to two years so my feedback is good if you need to check it there.

I appreciate that you are giving "references" but they don't mean anything here, in the way you intend.

To post pics from YOUR computer you'll need to be at least a Contributor (or higher). You CANNOT otherwise.

To post pics from another location, ANYBODY can do. First, copy the URL of exactly where your photo is. Next, just type then paste your photo link, like "www.rare or fake gun?", then follow it with . OR, you can let the Files do it for you by clickin on the IMG button directly above the text box while typing up your post, then pasting in your URL, then clicking OK.

Obviously if you have NOT had your photo hosted elsewhere, and you are NOT at least a Contributor, you are helpless. So go to any third-party host and upload your pictures, THEN you can link to them here on the Files.

Thanks Radio, several members replied within minutes of my request and already told me how to post from another site. I posted pics, got feedback, and have sent the rifle in question back to the seller as of last Saturday. I appreciate all of the advice from forum members who quickly assessed this rifle, which was not at all as advertised. How much of a contribution does it take to be able to post pics directly?

My screen name (original one) is "LOST" you can check my feedback ratings. My old e-mails from sent and inbox etc. We have had conversation here over the years. I have never mistreated or shorted anyone. Never hyjacked a thread. Yet I can no longer post anything on the board. I checked my e-mail adress was correct. went through all the updates. sent 2 messages to the webmaster site. Attempted to message you but couldn't message or post on the board. I was a bronze or silver member a few years back and have been off the board for awhile. Can we fix it so "lost" can post here again? You changed your email address. When you do this YOU have to reconfirm your account. You should receive the confirmation email as it has been resent to you. Click the link in the email when you receive it.

Hello. Used to, when I click on the smilies' "more" button, the selection of different smilies would come up instantly. Nowadays, I click the "more" button and it takes at least 1 minute or longer to pop up and there is the spinning circle thingy indicating that the computer is "thinking". Is it me or has something changed? Any help is appreciated. TIA.
