Actually, not much money at all, relatively speaking. The site posting your avatar is a small way of recognizing financial support at even a modest level. See "Memberships and Supporting the Site" in the "General Discussions" forum.

I have discontinued a couple of my shooting magazine subscriptions, as my interest in them has waned. The site here seemed to provide more hours of information and entertainment than the magazines did, and so seemed worthy of humble financial support, so I sent the renewal money to Jen instead.

$50 a year will let you post an avatar of your choosing, $100 or $200 makes it a lot bigger. My first choice of an avatar was so tiny when posted at my affordable contributions level you couldn't see who the goofball holding the FAL was, so I had to find something else.

$50 is an amount of money that varies in size to those here. It is, for me, the cost of a soft drink or cup of coffee in the morning on the way to work and a modest lunch every day for a week. I get more value than that from reading the list every day. I know it has saved me a lot of money on stuff, even though I have no doubt spent a lot more on things than I would have had I not found FALFILES.

Sure, one can read the list and post for free, but somebody has to pay the bills to keep the lights on, and the small bit I contribute may help do that. It is worth it to me.

I sent my dough in on July 29th with a separate e-mail and a follow-up note on August 30th. Still no recognition...

Not sure what else to do.

Email Jen and be patient. She updated for me the first time right away.

She posted a message a couple of days ago that her e-mail has been down, and to contact her about contributions, avatars and such. Do a search with her member number. It may have been under "Memberships and Supporting the Files" in "General Discussion."
