Boyd's, Sarco, and GunPartsCorp all offer C stocks for the Springfield. Who has the poop on which one is the best, in terms of correct fit and dimensions?

I'm building a shooter for vintage rifle matches, and don't care a whit about "parts correctness". What I want to avoid is a stock that has inletting and dimensional issues.

IIRC, all the vendors you stated sell the same maker of stock- Boyd's.

Is there any way to verify this?

I had heard that the Boyd's stocks tend to have larger outside dimensions, and are rougher than the Sarco/GPC stocks.

Frankly, if they are all the same, I'd rather have the Boyd's, since it is unfinished and fifty bucks cheaper. I'd just as soon do a little final shaping myself, and apply my own hot linseed finish, which has worked quite well on the Garand stocks so far.

Only thing that worries me about all these, is getting one that is a rattle fit, with big-assed gaps around the mag well and action.
