I thought it would be interesting to see what the ATF says about Heller vs DC. I found this instead. I'm not sure what to think of it. Link to ATF website (http://www.atf.gov/press/2008press/022508fflc_gangctr_opening.htm) Is this a "new" division? Is it the ATFEG now?

ATF is a redundant agency and they need to have their budget cut off. All of this is the responsibility of the FBI.

Let me interpret this for you.

Large gangs reside in LA, San Diego, San Francisco and major penitentiaries, for example.

This repository is in DC.

80 personnel, not 800.

Police Depts in the local areas work against gangs...so do special independent sole agency task forces from State Police DEA, FBI, ATF,...as they always have--small deals that can be quietly run and securely run...no one knows about them...like the ATF sting run vs hells Angels and the Pagans as seen on the History channel recently..

NO agency willingly pools hard won intelligence from their secret investigations prior to prosecution that may take years or from their special task forces into an insecure pool of outcasts located in of all places ....NORTHERN VIRGINIA.....DC bureaucrats.......

This group is a bunch of bureaucrats from all agencies, detailed to get rid of them and send them as outcasts to a single office full of outcasts from other bureaus...how much intel and cooperation does this new group have--does it have credibility, does it have undercover agents...the answer is no no no to all. NO AGENCY HELPS ANOTHER AGENCY AND NO COMPOSITE COMMITTEE HELPS ANYONE...that is the first rule of gov't work...the group is full of spies for their own agencies anyway...
This is the truth...the handbook for bureaucracy is replete of examples of do nothing committees like this that cannot do anything......they will meet and get no info from even their onw home agencies about ongoing secret investigations and certainly they will run no investigations whatsoever from NORTHERN VIRGINIA, out of an office full of outcasts and pariahs.

Here's what I just emailed these guys.

Could someone please tell me what person or agency invited the BATFE to become involved in gang activities? If gangs conduct their activities across state borders, I would expect the FBI to have jurisdiction. I can understand your agency being used as a technical resource to track weapons used by gang members, but beyond that, I’m stumped. Seems a needless expansion by a federal agency to me.

Who would understand gangs better than the biggest gang in DC?

they are just trying to do some research to improve their strong arm tactics, who better to learn from?
