Don't they ever get tired of this? Looks like they're trying to ban all military rifles. Just with the sheer number of mouse gun owners don't think it has much chance of passing without some serious amending but maybe that's their intention to begin with.

From 10 rounds to 5 rounds.
No surprise there.

The only good part about the whole thing:
SEC. 5. EFFECTIVE DATE.
This Act and the amendments made by this Act--
(1) shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act; and
(2) are repealed effective as of the date that is 10 years after that date.
I see they still have the Remington Nylon 66 listed as a Centerfire rifle. Idjuts!

How does this bill differ from H.R. 1022 (with 66 co-sponsors) that has been sitting in committee for over a year? I see one difference. This one will sunset in 10 years and H.R. 1022 will be permanent.
How many "banned" weapons have been added to the inventory of American gun owners, in say just the last 4 years since the 1994 ban sunsetted? How many more will be grandfathered this time, in addition to those grandfathered in 1994?
It seems to me that there are a lot of Congress types that forget what happened in 1996.

The Sponsor of the bill is (R), all the co-sponsors are (R). Can't blame the (D)'s this time.

Those are excluded from the ban, not included:
`(3) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to--
`(A) any of the firearms, or replicas or duplicates of the firearms, specified in appendix A to this section, as such firearms were manufactured on October 1, 1993;
`(B) any firearm that--
`(i) is manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action;

If you're talking about Appendix A, I believe those are all the rifles that are exempt from the ban...

thats what gets us into trouble. We have to ACT now and start raising hell with these clowns. We need to VOTE THEM OUT of office.
Every year the same clowns get back in.... and nobody ever claims to have voted for them...go figure?
It no longer matters what party they are from either.
McCain is anti 2nd amendment as well.
Better stock up on bullets and guns!

Too bad. We would have been better off with an extension of the previous ban. But, then that would have required some "group" strategic thinking on our part.

I believe that was the strategy NRA had in '94 when they didn't put up much of a fight against the first ban. If they compromise this time around, they can kiss my membership goodbye. Compromising with these bastards only encourages them.

I called the NRA and they are really scratching their heads wondering what
this idjut with an R behind his name is freakin' doin'. I told him they must
not be interested in winning any more elections.
The guys office that wrote the Bill are a buncha dumb basses, the Intern
who answered the phone stumbled when I asked her if she was a
Demoncrat, she finally said she was a repub.

Probably not a fair assessment. From Wiki:
In the 1994 election the NRA is often credited with defeating Congressmen Jack Brooks and Tom Foley (the first Speaker of the House to lose a reelection since 1860). Bill Clinton wrote:
“ The NRA had a great night. They beat both Speaker Tom Foley and Jack Brooks, two of the ablest members of Congress, who had warned me this would happen. Foley was the first Speaker to be defeated in more than a century. Jack Brooks had supported the NRA for years and had led the fight against the assault weapons ban in the House, but as chairman of the Judiciary Committee he had voted for the overall crime bill even after the ban was put into it. The NRA was an unforgiving master: one strike and you're out. The gun lobby claimed to have defeated nineteen of the twenty-four members on its hit list. They did at least that much damage and could rightly claim to have made Gingrich the House Speaker. ”

That was after the ban had been passed and signed into law. What did they do while it was being debated? I read something somewhere to the effect that LaPierre told some congressman prior to the bill being passed that NRA wasn't really that concerned about "assault weapons" one way or the other. I can't find that quote at the moment, but maybe someone else remembers it.

Bull$hit.
That's really some screwed up thinking there. Might be "strategic" if your group is up your a$$. Give them the old AWB and maybe they'll leave us alone? What? More appeasement?

Wow! I cant see any of the "baby killing" Barrett rifles on that list.
only a barret model 90, and they don't list it on their site, and it's missing a "t"

Instead, you gave the whole McGilla (and a whole lot more mcgillas) to the Dems. I was cool with the last one, once I figured my way around it. Hell, it started a bunch of small industries in this country. An extension would have (by law) kept this next Congress and this next administration away from any further legislation till 2014.
You ain't seen screwed up yet. Cause it'll be without lube. Enjoy all of it.

If you look at the leadership of the NRA its pretty much un-changed in both members and attitude, hence they do not get alot of my support...not bashing the regular NRA member, hes normally a good guy..but the leadership..just look at the mags they send.. big parties, dinners, get togethers..typical inside the beltway former military officers and business, corporate types..it behooves them to drag things out and continue the flow of green..I learned long ago in California that their is the NRA and their are the pro-gun groups i.e. GOA, JPFO 2ND Amend Foundation

Kirk is a handjob and I write him occasionally to remind him of the 2nd. His head is so far up Dick Durbin's ass that he's starting to look like Nathan Lane too.
My letter to him last week was to tell him that I want him fired and will be urging other republicans to vote for his Dem opponent Dan Seals.
It will give me great pleasure see him in the private sector. In this case it will be better to fight the dem candidates lesser agenda than Kirk's turncoat behavior.
