Anyone going to Camp Perry for Pistol phase? Let me know and maybe we can get together. I am thinking about bring a FAL just so I don't get withdrawal symptoms.

Yes, Andy, eight times. I love shooting the Service Pistol matches. For some strange reason I seem to do best in Service Pistol (1911) and the .22 matches.

Slo cat

BTW, I didn't get an email notification that you responded to this thread. Did something get changed on the FAL Files when it was down yesterday?

8 times?!? Whoa...

Lucky for me I didn't know that when we went head-to-head at FALFest - I might have been all intimidated-out

I'll have to look into Bullseye sometime - I like the fast-paced action-stuff but shooting for pure accuracy might be enjoyable.

The email-thing - I don't know what, if anything, has changed. Shoot a PM to Goderator to let her know

Well folks, it seems that Slo-cat has made the President's Hundred for the ninth time. And not by the skin of his teeth either. He was 28th.

I noted in poking around, that he has also made the Civilian National Team at least 3 times, and has a growing collection of Elihu Root medals.

Outstanding, Sir!

(Note to Stimp: better polish your pistol game, bud. Otherwise, Ol' Shlomo is gonna have to buy some beer or sumpin' for runnin' his mouth too soon.)

A Root Medal is one of those knock-your-socks off accomplishments if you do it even once.

Three times is just simply

I had no idea we had that kind of talent around here.

And I figure I done good if I can get through a trip to the range without
loading a round backwards in the magazine.

It's good to be home. I was gone 18 days shooting matches in St. Louis, Canton, OH and Camp Perry.

I missed shooting High Senior in the NTI service pistol match by just two points. Which was a surprise, as some retired Army shooters usually whip my butt big time for this award. I also did good in the Harry Reeves revolver match and got a T-shirt.

Camp Perry has a new indoor 10 meter air gun range this year. It has 80 firing points, all with electronic targets, air conditioned and is a first class facility. I wonder where the CMP got the money for this. I shot in the daily 30 shot re-entry match and in the final 60 shot air pistol match. I had a some good days with my Steyr LP-10.

I did bring my FAL Para with me on the trip. I was planning on shooting it some at the Canton range, but got too busy with other things. I kept it the rifle rack in my hut at Camp Perry. It made me feel good just to see it now and then. My hut mate picked up a Garand at the CMP store, so my FAL had some company in the hut rack.

Now I will have to get back into IPSC shooting. I've been inactive in this game since '95, except for FAL Fest. And I will have to take up 3-gun to get ready for FAL Fest 2009 and the gato a gato with Stimp.

shlomo, I'm impressed you dug up all this old info on me. Do you do detective work on the side?

Slo--

Sounds like you had yourself a fine Camp Perry experience again this year. Congrats.

As to the info, I hope you are not feeling intruded on, but it's all in or linked to your profile and website. Not too hard to figure where SLo cat came from. From there, Google is your friend. I'm not really a snoop, but I knew the pistol results were in, and wanted to see how you did.

As an aside, I note that the genteel-looking lady in the above pic, Judy Tant, was high woman this year in the President's/NTI aggregate. If I ran into her in the Publix, the last thing I'd guess by looking at her is that she's a champion pistol shot. Just shows you can't tell.

No intrusion at all felt. I figured the Internet was involved.

If you met Judy Tant you would be indeed surprised that she is a pistol shooter. She is about 5' 2", very soft spoken, and is a psychiatrist by trade. Also she is the overall Camp Perry Woman's Champion this year. A more genteel woman you will not meet. See results of NRA National Pistol Championship. W.E.G., you high power shooters have my utmost respect, seeing you shoot at 600-1000 yards is mind blowing to a pistol shooter that shoots at 50 yards at most.

Slo cat

Great job. I need to start practicing and get into some matches of some sort. I still don't have a pistol or shotgun though lol.

I can see her treating a split-personality disorder: "I have two pistols here, one for each of ya".
