Looks like fun :D

I'm a little concerned that you had a number of people who appeared to be so close to you, though.

Looks like you done good, nice tight rifle also, it may be my eyes or the angle but it looks like the brass is getting thrown close to 20'.

To embed videos use the URL to the right of the video that says "EMBED" and just paste the URL in your reply or post.

I agree with Andy, the number of people down range when you are shooting is asking for a problem. All spectators should be back behind a line and well away from the firing line. Also when you were moving from one target to the next, in the first video, it appeared that you were close to breaking the 180 rule.

Always be extra safe.

What? That wasn't the way it worked at FAL Fest 2007 when folks were doing the rifle-shotgun course. We were allowed to tail the shooter at a distance of about 30 feet.

Yes, those that were involved in the parade have been properly chastened!

Had I seen it happening I would have stopped in the middle of the run and started yelling!

I tried that Vince and all I got was the embed text in the post.

Also, dunno where it might appear I was even close to the 180? I actually carried the rifle across held opposite hands to make sure the muzzle was downrange, most shooters did this that day...with the notable exception of the nice gentleman who swept me and got DQ'd.

Good Video! I am sorry I missed it. I am going shooting this weekend to practice. I

have got to decide which FAL I am going to concentrate on and if I am going to switch over to a Hampton with AR style sights like W.E.G.

It is the guy who is keeping time job to make sure you and the others are safe. If he saw unsafe practices then he needed to call a ceasefire.

Also a brefing at the beginning of the match as to the safety rules does wonders. Give it anyway, even if we all have heard it before.

Stimpy did a comprehensive safety brief before the start of the match. He reiterated several points that would get you booted, and had to boot one shooter for breaking the 180 rule. He conducted a walk through of the action stage, with us all walking the course with him. Problematic shots, with regards the ranges to either side were clearly illustrated. These involved moving too far into the stage and then trying to "back shoot" targets that had been skipped during movement. Questions were asked and answered during the walk through. The angle of the camera operator may have been what made it seem there was a muzzle violation. Not at all. I wasn't in the crowd down range, but I was directly behind him back at the covered positions. That muzzle was clean at all times. RO's did a great job that day.

While safety is paramount we are talking about a limited problem as if it characterized the whole match. A lot of time is being spent preaching to the choir here.

I found last years match to have been run very safely and even professionally and I am sure that this one was as well.

While I am sure that others help I have always been impressed with the effort that one man made to make the GA FAL Match a success.

Thanks.

The match is run safely...this is the main reason I try to personally RO as many shooters as I possibly can. It's my match and my responsibility.

I should have been more clear with the step in RO and score keeper about the rules regarding cameras, but to be honest none of this behavior manifested during any of the other shooters runs. I was the last shooter of the day, and Rob and Stew just did not react the way I would have.

It's been discussed, and it has been added to the standard safety briefing I give before any of my matches.

If you want to hand out safety advice there was some behavior in a certain videotape I saw here recently that made my hair stand up. Perhaps that person would be a better target for your help.
