Original, FN-produced walnut stocks for the Egyptian contract rifles have never been generally available. That's why Century commissioned the beechwood repro stocks for use during their rebuild program nearly 20 years ago. At one time, Numrich had purchased some of these repro stocks from Century and had them advertised on their web site. Today, you occasionally see one of the repro stocks show up on one of the auction sites. Rarely, you see an original Egyptian contract stock show up for sale, usually when someone is parting out a rifle.
The .30-06 stocks that are available can be modified to work on the Egyptian contract barreled action. You end up with an incorrect stock, with the wrong buttplate, and with gaps in the inletting around the rear of the trigger guard ... but at least you have a stock .......

Thanks for the tips guys.
You got no idea how much is appreciated.
BTW, does anyone have the Wenig's number or website? Is it just a google search away? I'll give it a shot.
Anyway, thanks again. I can't buy my first FAL without finishing this project first.

Great American Gunstock Company catalogs FN-49 stocks ... but they are a bit spendy. Go to: http://www.gunstocks.com/Stockstyles.html#12
Keep in mind that there are really about 7 different FN-49 stocks, when you factor in differences related to trigger guard and buttplate inletting and recoil lug/crossbolt differences. When I last contacted Great American, they said that they produce "about 3" configurations of stocks. You would probably want to make sure you are getting a stock that is inlet properly for your rifle.
You haven't said yet if you are trying to restore the rifle to original condition, are just trying to stock it so you can shoot it, or want to spend hundreds of dollars on an attractive, non-original stock.
You might want to read this thread at Surplusrifle.com - pay attention to the 6th post: http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=22758

Thanks Goose.
You got no idea the weight you just lifted off my shoulders.
Basically, I don't give a crap what stock I get so long as it ain't cracked or totally trashed. I want one that fits proper with no messing around.
I REALLY appreciate you getting back to me as fast as you did.
Thanks bro.

DSA is thinking about bring the 49s back on line in the future like SF did with the M1s as soon as they can keep up with SA58 orders if that happens that will change everything for us depending what they do with it and cal.they come out with.
