I am looking to pick up a R1A1 with metric parts and I believe it is a metric receiver (I am going to check tonight before I buy it). I was just planning to pick up the para kit made by Falcon, strip the parts out of the existing metric lower to use in the lower used by Falcon ( I believe there are US Parts in the Century R1A1's lower). Is there anything I should be aware of. As for the Para Top Cover, which should I look for? I am assuming I should choose the non-nose cover because it is not a para reciever.

Thanks

All Century receivers are metric, not that it matters that lower will go on either. You want the non nose cover and you should be good to go! There might need to be some minor fitting but you won't know until you get it together.

This intrigues me....I haven't heard of Falcon Arms before. How's the quality of their product? I'm thinking of paratrooperizing a SAR4800 .223 FAL so I don't necessarily want to put a "Very Good" lower on a minty Imbel Sporter. Is DSA the better way to go? There seems to be only a $100 difference between a "Very Good" lower and a new USA made lower that would count as another US part....thoughts?

The falcon ones are stripped surplus units that have been refinished. No sight included. Counts as one 922 part.

The DSA one is a new alloy lower and has the sight. It also counts as three 922 parts.

The DSA ones are back ordered the last I heard.
Falcons are in stock.

Not so. I have 2 Century R1a1's that have Century Inch cut receivers and built with inch kits...............

Those receivers are not inch cut the only thing inch cut on them are for the folding charging handles and maybe a inch ejector block. Everything else is metric. As I said inch and metric lowers can be swapped, the only concern is for front and rear sight height compatability.

Wrong again.
They do have the charging handle cut, and the magwell is cut for inch
mags. I'll try and get some pics tomorrow

They must have done that on the last batch of L1s then. Every century I've encountered to now has been pretty much metric with an inch kit on it, no big task as everything fits except for a few minor parts that take just little bit of fitting. I have seen them with Inch cut mag notches but they are usually done after they left Century.

Regardless, the basic question was if a metic lower will go on a Century inch rifle and my answer was yes, even if it was a true inch receiver.

My R1A1 has an inch lower receiver with an inch cut upper receiver(mag detent, charging handle cut, top cover cuts). No idea on date of production, but it does say R1A1.
