Folks,
I'm new here and have been trying to get an FAL built for over two years now. I initially paid a gunsmith in GA, May of '06, to order an Entreprise receiver and build a rifle using my Imbel parts kit I bought from Inter Ordnance. To make a long story short, he never ordered the receiver and I finally got all of my money back from his partner last summer when the guy had a stroke. I've been buying compliance parts, and including whatever new receiver I get, I'll have ten compliance parts in my rifle. My question pertains to a "Browning style" flash hider I purchased from DSA. I'm a retired Marine grunt so my interpretation of flash hider, as opposed to flash suppressor, are very cut and dried. The unit I purchased from DSA is listed online as a flash hider but in my mind is nowhere near to being a flash hider. It is basically the flash suppressor that was mounted on the T-48 version of the FAL and is very similar to the flash suppressor on the M-14. Will I be violating any laws by mounting this on my rifle? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks folks!;)

If you are in a state without any of its own Assault Weapons Ban, you can put whatever you like on the end of the barrel.

I do believe the Browning-style device is indeed a flash hider.

If your "Browning style" FH is the same as the one listed in DSA'a catalog, it is made in the U.S. and would count as 1 of your compliant parts.

If you already have ten 922r compliance parts, then you can fit whatever flash hider, flash suppressor or muzzle brake you desire seeing as your profile says you're in Tx.
You aren't going to break any (stupid) Laws in doing so.

Welcome to the FAL Files (& whatever you do, stay out of Dumping Brass - they're mad, all mad I tell you) :uhoh:

Guys,
I appreciate your input. I will end up with a total of ten compliance parts, one of which will be the flash hider. Thanks again! ;)
