View Full Version : DSA SA58 G1 FAL

I had been wanting an FAL for some time and decided that I would start with something really nice, so I went with DSA's West German G1 FAL. I just took her home today, as she is really a beauty. In fact she's so pretty, I "almost" don't even wanna shoot her. The green sling she came with looks standard, rather then original, so I'm guessing I need to find out what the original sling is.
Again, this is my 1st FAL, so I'm not familiar with them. Any advice of setting the adjustable gas system?
Also, is DSA the best source for NEW condition mags?

Lot of differing opinions on gas setting.
Most often heard is to (1) "Open" the regulator all the way. #7 (2) Fire one round with a mag in it and if the bolt doesn't lock back adjust the 1 click toward Pos 6 and repeat untill the bolt locks back every time, then close the regulator 2 more clicks to assure reliability.
My method: (1) Set the Regulator somewhere in the middle. I like #4. (2) Load a mag with one round and fire. (3) If the bolt locks back, open the gas a couple cllicks, #5, and try again. If the bolt does not lock back, close the Regulator a couple clicks, #3 and repeat.
Saves ammo and keeps the "butterfly net" people away when at public ranges.
For clarity: Open = moving the Reg from 1 ~ 7 or less gas to the piston
Close = moving the Reg. from 7 ~ 1 or more gas to the piston
Hope this ain't backwards! :D
Don't know if DSA has NEW mags. They have EXCELLENT condition mags for $12 and GOOD cond. mags for $7. Recommend you get a few Xlent for that shiney new G1 for showin off and a bunch the $7 for range and spares. Other than minor scuff marks, I've been very pleased with their $7 mags. O'Course, I don't have a shiney brand new G1!
