Unit Optic Sight
The rare Unit Optic Sight (UOS) was the sighting system on 300 Canadian FN EX.2 rifles and 1000 British X8E2 Troop Trials rifles assembled during 1953/54.
The sight was manufactured by R & J Beck Ltd, London and was the latest model of sight that had its origins with the EM2 rifles. The sight’s reticule is an inverted pointer with two ranging lines (400 and 600 yards).
Because the UOS blocked the view of the normal iron sights a simple emergency peep sight was placed on the left side of the UOS and a special offset foresight was used on the gas block.
This is the forerunner of the SUIT & SUSAT sights.
Hello here is a pic for you. My friends X8E2 on top and my Ex2 on bottom. Thanks EX1

BTW, I have seen the stripe on the EX butts in pics before. Do you know why it was placed there? Were they marking the rifles as unserviceable or non-standard ammunition???

The 2 inch white stripe on the rifles means the rifle has been converted to Drill Purpose ONLY, a fate that awated 99% of the FAL trials rifles.
There was a 2 inch white stripe on the Butt, Handguards, magazine and carrying handle IIRC
