I recently purchased a Springfield Model MA9822 M1A with stainless barrel. I live in a non-commy State that actually allows flash hiders with bayonet lugs. I would like to swap the current flash hider for one with the bayonet lug. Can I get some advice as to whether this is possible? How hard of a sawp is it? Where is the best place to get the parts I need and what parts do I need?
Also, I am wonder about where to pick up some mags with a 20 round capacity.
Thanks

Fulton Armory has the lugged flash suppressor. You will also need a pair of castlenut pliers and an allen key for the setscrew.Easy to do,takes about 5 minutes.Oh,you need a bayonet. Mags you will want to buy from 44mag.com,they have real USGI issue Checkmate Industries mags.

I just changed out my neutered flash suppressor for a GI unit. I don't have a castle nut wrench, but used a punch to loosen/tighten the castle nut.
I haven't shot it since changing it out, but everything looks centered.

Good question. Thats what I need to do also. I have a bayonet for my 1917 thats also supposed to fit the M1. Will it also fit the M1a?

The 1903 Springfield bayonet will fit the M1. I don't think the 1917 bayonet will fit anything but a 1917.
The M14 bayonet is a different animal than all other US bayonets.
