I have a G3 front end with a late type tapered cocking tube but no ribbs.
The barrel only has a "k" proof mark.
Looks like it may have had a serial # or arsenal mark on the left mag well.
Not much else to go by as to origin maker of the G3.

Any body know who made smooth tapered tubes?
German, Greek, Port, or Paki?

Thanks,

W.O.

You say it is a late type, does the tapered area have the handguard hanger on it? Does the slot that the cocking handle rides in have spotwelds along the length of the slot on each side? A picture would help immensly, especially of the marking on the magwell.

The only one that I have seen with a non ribbed cocking tube have been some of the clones that have been assembled with a US made cocking tube and some of the very early 1959 G3 models.
