Have acquired my first FAL so I have a long ways to go on learning the ins and outs of this interesting rifle. Right now I am not even sure what I have but was able to fire the gun a bunch before purchase and after adjustment it was flawless. It is an Enterprise receiver but not sure of the rest of the parts. Is there such a thing as an Austrian Parts Kit? Anyway, gun has a wood stock that is a little rough and I would like to replace it with synthetic and a new pistol grip to go with it. Ordered a DSA form Midway and was very disappointed with the quality (have already sent it back) . Any ideas on what to get and where to buy would be appreciated. Thanks! Art G. admanawg@aol.com

Hey artgsc,

Yes there is such a thing as a Austrian FAL. The Stg 58's are a quality product and most kit's were in very good shape when imported. The DSA furniture I have bought in the past was pretty good quality. What was wrong with the set you bought?

I,however prefer wood furniture! If your rifle came with wood, why not keep it that way? You can get replacement wood, made in the USA so it's still compliant from several sources here on the files.
Check out Blue Monster's work. There's plenty of pictures in the Images section. Here's an example of his work on a G1 which is pretty similar in appearance to an Stg.

An Stg with synthetic furniure would look like this..

With wood like this..

Thanks for the response guys I appreciate it! I snet my DSA stock and grip back because of mold flaws that were too extreme for me to be comfortable...

Davesrb: Who is the Blue Monster you refer to? If I could get a swood tock set for my FAL that looks as good as yours I would do it in a heartbeat. Any details would be appreciated. Thanks! Art G.
