I have heard that there is a list of serial numbers that can determine weather or not an FN is legal or not? Has anyone heard of this?

I suspect that the 'list' that you are asking about is specific to the early G Series FAL imports which were required to be recorded by serial number in order to be excluded from the provisions of the National Firearms Act.

We will need to know more specifics, especially the receiver manufacturer, as that doesn't ring a bell with me as a Belgian serial.
If you can describe the receiver markings in detail we'll stand a better chance of being able to help you.

If so, I love it, wish I could have had 18k or whatever it sold for.

its has Belgian makings as far as importation It is my understang it came in through Canada in the 60's the selector ( according I just got idINCH L1A1/C1A1 it is semi auto that has a fixed stock and is of legal length.
