I have been experimenting with a few hand loads for my Imbel & Century FAL's. I found that any soft point bullets were mashed or damaged by the feed ramps, affecting accuracy. When A/B'd with milsurp ammo, the milsurp shoots much better groups in both rifles. I realized this a few days ago and have not had time to handload anything with FMJ.
Any suggestions on bullets or handload recipies for the FAL? The Imbel is a 21" with Burris 4-14 glass. The Century is 21" with iron.

I use hollow points, or ballistic tips only for just the reasons you stated.
Sierra 168Gr HPBT(M)
Sierra 165 Gr HPBT
or recently I've been trying the Hornady 168 Gr HPBT.

With 748BR powder I'm running aboiut 45 Gr with a CCI #200 primer for about 2650FPS.

I've discovered that the 165/168 Gr bullets will about 1/2 the group sizes I'm getting with 150 gr bullets.

As allways work up the load, dont exceed manufactuerers specs, look for pressure signs, reduce load density for military brass Blah, Blah, blah:wink:

If you look in the "Ammunition" forum there is a sub-forum for handloading. You will find lots of info from members on Fal loads.

Beware of member "ggiilliiee"
He'll be talkin you into taking a Dremel to the rails to feed soft points. You have been warned!!
