just wanted to say hello and thanks for all the cool post i've been reading. i bought my first fal 2 weeks ago on saturday and cancelled it on monday after reading about hesse on this site. unfortunately i bought a new century metric fal and it arrives tommorow. i know there is alot of cons w/cai but i'm hoping it has the you reciever and has no problems w/it( even though it has a warranty). love the info on this site.

Welcome aboard :beer: :beer:
Don't sweat the Century, if it doesn't behave there are lotsa folks here who know 'em inside and out, they'll have you running in no time, plus you'll end up with a great knowledge of your rifle as a bonus. Haven't followed the advenures of the latest batch real closely, but I think most of 'em run fine , IIRC :shades:

went and shot my fal today, didnt know what the #'s on the back sight goes from 2-6, i put it on 6 and at 100yds 8 of 40 rds made it on top of the paper. moved it to 3 and 80 more rds, we're in the black w/ iron sights and my scratched up glasses. trying to time the shot w/ my breathing wasnt as easy as i thought. but had a ball. i'm out of ammo untill my surplus comes in on thursday.

3= 0-300 yards

6= 600 yards

April 28, 2008, 12:40
does that mean if i put it on 3 and i'm in the black, the front sights need to come down to set it on 2 to be more accurate, right?

April 28, 2008, 18:54
There's no 100-yard setting on the rear-sight, so I set it at 2 (200 yards) and adjust the front sight so that it prints about 1.5" high at 100 yards - and it should be dead-on at 200.

That way your sights are set properly and all you need to remember is to aim 1.5" lower when shooting at 100 yards.

Bought my Century L1A1 in 95 and works fine. Since then I built an Israeli heavy barrel on a DSA upper and an getting ready to do another L1A1 on a DSA upper. found a new company making a 3 part USA trigger group for L1A1. Fit perfect and trigger pull sweet. www.GunThings.com

sorry, dont know how to do those things yet .
Putting the mag in is easy:biggrin:
If you can't find concrete any "manly" surface (rocks, dead treees, gravel) will do, but no velvet cushions, lacy coverlets Etc. or you'll get all kinds of hell from the more "Widley Experienced Guys", not mentioning any names.:rofl: :rofl:

cbr954fz1, Broke sucks, but happy is better. I dove in pocketbook first myself. I joke with my friends saying, "I may end up living in a tent, but no one's going to take it from me.":biggrin: :fal:

"broke and armed", i guess thats my new motto. i am going to try and post a pic soon , but i had to send the century fal back to be fixed, it seems that they cut the feed ramp too low on the right side and the round keeps hitting below the barrel and getting stuck. the mag is metric ( i think) and there is no play at all when locked into place. (i did try different mags, same thing). so i sent everything back to see if they can fix it.
