View Full Version : Red dot on a revolver?

Anyone have a red dot on a revolver? I have a Taurus Tracker in .357. I'm thinking of putting a reflex sight on it. Any insight or pictures would be appreciated.

I have very little knowledge about the different red dot scopes. But I have used a millet red dot on a revolver before. I have found they work ok out to around 100 yds or a bit beyond, depending on the target size. I didn't like them for use on anything I intended to shoot small targets at long ranges with. Like a contender in 223 where I would be using it for varmints at longer ranges. I found the dot gets pretty big when you start getting out there in range.

there are very small holo sights made for pistols and with adaptors to fit in rear sight dovetails.

I have a Millet SP1 red dot on my 44 mag Super Redhawk. It's holding up to the recoil and a one time 20' drop from the tree stand (Note to shoulder holster users. Snap the strap over the revolver before bending over.) The dot works well to about 75 yards on deer. After that it's covering a lot of target area but that doesn't matter much since I would use a rifle past 75 yards anyway.

Thanks for all the help. I plan to mostly ding steel plates. Shots at 25, 35 maybe 50 yards max. Optics might not be the only issue. Iím having trouble finding the scope mount for the Tracker. Anyone have any leads?

Check with jackweigand.com I ordered one for my S&W L frame before I went offshore a couple of weeks ago. UPS sent a email saying it has been delivered. I have used weigand products in the past and have found them to be very good. The mount replaces the rear sight with a weaver rail. Weigand does make a mount for several Taurus revolvers. I should be in by this Friday and will install the mount and reflex for some range time on Saturday. :fal:

I used a dot on several comp guns for years. SHot a revolver with a 1 min. dot one time. Too small for fast plates; but woulda been the bee's knees for a hunting rig!
I'd recommend it, for whatever use. Fast, accurate and out to commn pistol range..deadly!
